Français (French)
A first or official language across West and Central Africa
French is a Romance language spoken natively in France and, as an official language, across close to thirty countries — including a large share of West and Central Africa, where it sits alongside indigenous languages as a language of government, education, and daily life. That overlap makes French one of the most common pairings for African-to-world translation.

What counts as correct
French uses a range of accent marks — é, è, ê, à, ù — that change pronunciation and sometimes meaning, plus the cedilla (ç) that softens a c before a, o, or u.
Why it matters
Precision, not approximation
French accents aren't decorative — "a" and "à" are different words, and a missing cedilla changes how a word is meant to sound. Itumo checks every accent and cedilla so a French translation reads as intentional, not approximate.
